Oh What a DAY!

We baked him in our own oven, decorated him and went to lunch.

He ran AWAY!  The Gingerbread Man left us clues all around the school.  He eventually went back to our class where we found and ate him up!

Today we made our very own Gingerbread Man!  The kids did it themselves, even the eggs! 

Everyone wanted a turn!

Five stirs each should cut it!

They even know how to wash the bowls!

Run! Run! As fast as you can! You can't catch me! I'm the Gingerbread Man!

The learners had to put the words in the correct order to put them on their hat. 

After reading the story of The Gingerbread Man the kids had to find the beginning, middle, and end.

They are even making gingerbread men on the computers and i-devices!

Today starts one of my favorite weeks of learning in Kindergarten! 

K3 Has Passion

Today was a great day in K3.  The kids brainstormed ways that they would like to help the school and then went OUT on patrol.  They even made badges so that everyone would know what they were up to. :) 

These girls policed the kids as they were out on their own.  They only gave 3 tickets!

This group was in charge of organizing the lost and found.  Do you recognize anything?

Caiden and Juan were on trash patrol.  This is a job they do proudly every day. 

Watch out for these Watt Watchers!  They patrolled the school for classrooms that left the lights on.  They even had to leave a ticket for an offender!

Lunch Patrol!  These two helped in the cafeteria making sure that it was ready for the next grade level to eat lunch.

Bug Patrol!  It's a dirty job, but apparently these kids loved it!

Author Visit

 

We were so lucky to have author Mike Artell come to CCE today and share some of his work. The kids loved learning how to draw a sheep, a dinosaur, and various emotion faces.  We even learned a really catchy song that he wrote to go with Mardi Gras as he is from New Orleans. 

You're 60 and You Know It!

Kindergarten made an amazing remix for Dr. Penny for her 60th birthday!  They have watched it OVER, and OVER, and OVER again!  :)

The kids were SO ENGAGED in the Flat Stanley book today.  I think it is time to get out the chapter books for read aloud!

It's Turkey Time In Kindergarten!

Happy 40th Birthday Mrs. Kastrounis!

Mrs. K is celebrating a big birthday this weekend!  Forty Kindergarten students gave her some advice for what they would do when they were the big 40!

What a terrific Fun Run!

What a great afternoon!  Every student in our class ran at LEAST 36 laps for this fundraising event.  Our class average was 57 dollars per lap.  When we did that math problem is was pretty impressive.  Thank you and your family and friends for all of your support.  Our school could not do everything it does without you.  :)

Thank You Mystery Reader!

The kids loved our mystery readers book choice today!  It went perfectly with our turkeys in disguise that are coming in.  The kids are LOVING seeing what others are bringing in   If you haven't sent yours back yet, we need it!

Celebrating Veterans Day!

One of the most meaningful days of the year at CCE comes when we celebrate our Veterans.  The children learn such a valuable lesson about the selfless acts of Veterans and how their acts support us and others.  For many of them this is the first time they can actually get past the notion that they wear camo and fight.  I am so proud of the children for participating in this ceremony, and of our school for recognizing the importance of this lesson.

The Boy Scouts of CCE raise the flag.

It was a perfect morning for the flag to fly.These are all Veterans that are family members of students at CCE.  Many parents, grandparents, uncles, and cousins were in attendance today.

Election Day!

Kindergarten participated in the election yesterday at CCE.  It was very exciting to watch them learn about the democratic process. 

Here we are turning in our voters registration cards.

Now we are getting out official ballots.

Time to cast our votes!

Everyone who votes gets an "I Voted" sticker!

We are keeping our votes to ourselves. :)

We are going BATTY in Kindergarten!

The kids are doing a great job learning about bats!  We are reading both fiction and non-fiction bat books and learning great information along the way.  Look at some of this amazing work! 

We compared birds and bats in our science journals. 

We have an ongoing What I Know, What I  Learned, and What a Wonder board going on. 

These sock bats hanging upside down in the hallway are a crowd favorite.

We are word working and using technology making at words.
